Great day out only thing I could complain about was crisps that was marked 40p on the bag cost me 1.20 when I brought it up to girl she said nope 1.20 when it percifically said 40p on bag. If it 40p on bag that what it cost and I bought 3 bags 3.60

I never want in,my daughter and grandkids did, they said a lot of the animals weren't visible as they were resting/sleeping,they enjoyed the ones they did see, only bad thing was the hill climb, I think they used to have a wee train that could drop you off and you could walk down with ease and you could see the animals far easier and you weren't out of breath doing so

Lovely big zoo but undergoing renovations so some places weren't open and a lot of the animals were asleep or in their homes

Absolutely worst zoo I have ever been to , 80% of the enclosures were empty and in poor stare of repair and if you did actually see any animals they looked very depressed ,the whole site is on a hill side and a very hilly site and unsuitable for the less mobile people , honestly wouldn't bother Wasting your money on this less than assuming place , there were more animals in the gift shop than in the actual zoo.

Half of the enclosures were empty for a start. The glass on most of them was that dirty it was difficult to see the animals, let alone take a photo. There were empty beer cans in the Sea Lions pool. Some of the animals were on their own and looked suicidal. Maybe better in the summer when they are outside their housing. The whole place needs some TLC.

Visit while we were in the area before we headed back to the airport, was really disappointed, no cafe opens, said there was a catering van that was open to get hot drinks etc, no such thing. Cold miserable day you would expect somewhere for hot drinks. Visited many zoos in the winter months and still been able to buy eateries. Never really saw any animals. Paid full price for only been in the zoo for 1 hour 30 mins when it closed at 4pm.

Turned up this afternoon for a couple of hours , quite disappointed that there were no food or drinks outlets open .chocolate bar or a bottle of pop from a vending machine were only options . Far from ideal on a cold wet day .

I visited Belfast Zoo for the second time yesterday, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. While I gave the benefit of the doubt during my first visit when I spotted rats in the monkey enclosure, this time the issue seemed much more significant. We encountered more rats and mice than actual animals, which speaks to poor pest management across the zoo. Additionally, many of the animal enclosures appeared empty, and it was unclear where the animals were or if they were even on display. The only refreshment option was a drinks van that seemed very rundown and lackluster. The only positive aspect of the visit was the staff, who were friendly and helpful. However, given the lack of animals and the overall state of the facilities, I would not recommend visiting again unless significant improvements are made.

Honestly, this felt more like a nature trail than a proper zoo. I barely saw any animals or birds, and a lot of the enclosures seemed under-maintained. The place was pretty empty, with just me and a few staff members around, which made it feel a bit eerie. For £15, I expected a lot more—it just didn’t feel worth it. Also, if you’re taking public transport, be prepared for a bit of a walk. Both bus stops are downhill, so you’ll need to walk up for about 10–15 minutes. Overall, I’d recommend spending that money elsewhere.

Could have been better. Cafes both closed and this isn't obvious enough on the website. We were starving and this would have made the trip exceptionally tricky for us with our baby had we not brought our own flask of water etc for our baby's bottle (you could be up at the top of the hill and have to march all the way to the bottom for hot water then all the way back up again). Animal houses close at 3pm. Not obvious on the website and no one told us this at any point, we only found out after they had closed. Could have been so much better, won't be back in a hurry.

One of the best zoos that we have been to. Well connected with public transport. Nice view once we reach the top. Nice selection of animals and could easily spend half a day. Make sure to be there during feeding time it’s amazing to see how animals react and perform some ‘happy moves’ seeing food! There are picnic spots to sit and enjoy your food. There are also a few cafés inside to get something to eat or drink. The best part is the individual stories about each animal that are up there. We were almost in tears while reading about each chimpanzee’ past and their family relations. Very educative and fantastic learning experience not just for kids but also for adults. Surely recommend visiting.
